Umpire Co-Ordinator
Date: June 2023
Reports to: Umpire Portfolio Lead (Manningham Netball Committee Member)
Rate: $30 per hour, as per Manningham Netball Contract
Primary Responsibilities
Manningham Netball Competitions
- Attend and supervise courts for the duration of Saturday competition from 30 minutes prior to the first time slot
- Ensure all umpires report for the allocated timeslot and sign in accordingly
- Ensure safety of umpires and on court players at all time – Decide when to abandon games due to safety elements including weather
- Ensure all umpires have the three mandatory items to umpire – rule book, umpire uniform and thunder whistle
- Oversee umpire standards pertaining to equipment, dress code, attitude and development
- Respond to players, coaches/officials, parents and spectator’s queries and complaints relating to rules and code of conduct
- Ensure any incidents are captured in the Incident Log book
- Deliver “Rules and Actions” workshops for any wet days and any other planned days
- Ensure umpire’s room is clean and bins are emptied at the conclusion of the daily competition
- Maintain and submit Saturday competition umpire running sheet to Umpire Administrator at the completion of day competition
- Liaise with Umpire Administrator to ensure all competitions are attracting and maintaining suitable umpires within each competition’s needs. Assist if required.
Umpire Development
- Liaise with Accredited Trainer to select and support umpires who require badging
- Lead a pool of Umpire Mentors & Trainers
- Update umpires on changes to Netball Victoria and/or Manningham Netball association
General
- Support and maintain a positive and inclusive culture at Manningham Netball with respect to umpires, players, coaches/officials, parents and spectators
- Maintain current knowledge of rules, policies and procedures that govern the association
- Maintain current knowledge of Manningham Netball By-Laws and Constitution
- Attend Sub-Committee meetings every two months – once established
- Identify process improvement opportunities to be discussed at the sub-committee meeting for endorsement
- Support the Manningham Netball Committee in duties as agreed
- Support the yearly umpire awards
- Participate in performance reviews with Umpire Portfolio Lead as required
- Umpire (only if required) to cover last minute shortages
Compulsory Attributes
- Current umpiring experience
- Minimum C Badge
- Self-starter
- Effective communicator with good interpersonal skills.
- Positive and enthusiastic leader
- Responsible and well organised.
- Can maintain confidentiality on relevant matters.
- Can effectively support association’s visions and liaise with Manningham Netball Committee of Management
- Understands, supports and adheres to Association Constitution, Rules and Bylaws, Codes of Conduct, The Rules of Netball, and Netball Victoria Competition Regulations, and Netball Australia Member Protection Policies.
- Understands the position as an important role in the hobby-recreation field, supporting members, officials and volunteers in the sport of netball.
- First aid qualification
- Working with Children Card
- Has sound knowledge of Victorian Child Safe Standards and their obligations in their roles
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in Management and/or Coordination
- Computer skills an advantage
Umpire Administrator
Date: June 2023
Reports to: Umpire Co-ordinator
Rate: $28 per hour, as per Manningham Netball Contract
Primary Responsibilities
Manningham Netball Competitions
- Co-ordinate all Manningham Netball umpires for any Manningham Netball competitions, which includes sourcing and scheduling umpires (competitions include but not limited to Saturday, Tuesday Night (sourcing only), Manningham Netball Rep tournaments & any other events) – following the umpire allocation model as captured in the Manningham Netball Umpire Processes and Procedures manual
- Liaise with co-ordinator (Saturday competition, Tuesday night competition, Tournament) to ensure all umpires are reporting for the allocated timeslots and sign in accordingly at each venue
- Prepare weekly umpiring rosters & umpire payment summaries & provide these and any supporting documentation (e.g. amended rosters) to Finance Officer as per Process and Procedures Manual
Umpire Development
- Attract & maintain a pool of experienced umpires
- Coordinate Umpire Training Courses for Manningham Netball on non-umpiring days (as required)
General
- Support and maintain positive and inclusive culture at Manningham Netball with respect to umpires, players, coaches/officials, parents and spectators
- Ensure all umpires have up-to-date records of registration, courses completed, working with children cards, contact details, statement of supplier and that this information is captured Manningham Netball Umpire Database
- Support the yearly umpire awards
- Ensure the process and procedure manual is up to date
- Prepare monthly umpire report for the Manningham Netball committee – refer to process for manual for draft template
- Be the umpiring contact for the Manningham Netball & attend to any communications in a timely manner (within seven days)
- Support the Manningham Netball Committee in duties as agreed

- Manningham Netball Umpire uniform management – refer process manual
- Maintain current knowledge of Rules, Policies and Procedures that govern the association
- Maintain current knowledge of Manningham Netball By-Laws and Constitution
- Participate in performance reviews with Umpire Portfolio Lead as required
- Monitor the Umpire Email Account – inbox and responses and refer to the Manningham Netball Committee any emails that require resolution at Committee level.
