Child Safety Officer

Position: Manningham Netball Child Safety Officer
Reports to: Manningham Netball Association Committee
Employment: Volunteer (1–5 hours per week depending on the time of season)

The Role:


Manningham Netball is seeking a Child Safety Officer to support our commitment to providing a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all children and young people across our netball community.

Working with the Association Committee, you will help promote awareness of child safety, support the implementation of relevant policies and procedures, and assist our clubs, coaches and volunteers to understand their responsibilities in safeguarding children.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Promote child safety awareness and good practice throughout the Association.
  • Support clubs, coaches and volunteers to understand and apply child safety policies and procedures.
  • Help identify opportunities to strengthen our child safety practices and manage potential risks.
  • Assist with monitoring and documenting child safety concerns, maintaining appropriate records and confidentiality.
  • Support the Association’s ongoing review of child safety practices and compliance requirements.

Requirements:

We’re looking for someone who is approachable, organised and passionate about creating safe environments for children and young people in community sport.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to share information clearly and support others.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • A high level of integrity, discretion and respect for confidentiality.
  • An empathetic and considered approach when dealing with sensitive matters.
  • A current Working with Children Check, with a willingness to complete any required screening.

An understanding of child safety, policy or community sport, or willingness to learn, would be beneficial.
