Last Saturday (Oct 22), the much-anticipated launch of the renaming of Doncaster & Districts Netball Association,  to the new Manningham Netball, was a washout. All morning games were cancelled up to 12pm, all presentations and speeches from dignitaries cancelled, the highly anticipated exhibition games, all-abilities round and Netta demonstration, all postponed.
As usual, it was the younger kids who missed out on strutting their stuff, not to mention the often-overlooked umpiring team, coaches and administrators, all of whom prepare and work hard, for no outcome, whenever it rains.
Luckily the inclement weather didn’t deter our impressive group of dignitaries, all of who turned up and braved the weather. Local resident and MLA for Bulleen, Matt Guy showed his support, Ryan Smith, MLA for Warrandyte, the Lord Mayor Michelle Kleinert and Counsellor Stephen Maine all showed and witnessed the inequity of Netball being played in a sub-standard environment.
Manningham Netball would like to thank all of the above for their commitment, plus all the Manningham Netball Committee, Staff and Volunteers for their work in being part of this wet and soggy experience.
